1950 The idea of PHAB (Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied) was originated from the United Kingdom. 1970 Miss Mary Robinson, the founder of U.K. PHAB, introduced the PHAB concept to Hong Kong, which promotes “Opportunity Not Pity” for physically handicapped persons. 1971 A PHAB Working Party was set up by the Rehabilitation and the Youth Work Divisions of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. 1972 On 19 October, the Hong Kong PHAB Association was officially established, responsible for the overall coordination and promotion of PHAB work within the community.
